Project Information

Project objectives

Objective 1: A spiraling TDP curriculum will leverage current and developing technology to prepare preservice teachers to assess and analyze student learning for improving instruction based on Missouri performance standards.

Objective 2: Preservice and inservice teachers will develop the capacity to analyze, interpret and use testing and assessment data in conjunction with technology to support all students' learning.

Objective 3: Beginning MU teacher graduates will be supported throughout their induction year in student assessment, data-driven decision-making and effective instructional practices.

Objective 4: Student progress will be documented and assessed through development of an electronic portfolio system.

Needs Assessment

Understanding the context in which project work is implemented was the essential first step. To better understand teachers' needs and conditions, a needs assessment was developed based on the Performance Pyramid framework (Wedman & Diggs, 2001). The Performance Pyramid is a research-based framework for improving job performance -- in this case teachers integrating data-driven decision making and technology into teaching and learning for the purpose of increasing student achievement. For more details regarding the Performance Pyramid, see http://www.coe.missouri.edu/~pyramid/
